You're in Luck Reags.

If you're going for purple and green for the ole weddin hoedown, there are lots of spring beauties that might be available for it. (I also think white flowers will fit right in because they have such pretty greenery.) See what options you have. If you had to go to Costco or Albertsons, it will be cheapest/most available to do tulips, paperwhites, orchids...and collect from any other branches in the neighborhood that might be blooming--and legal to cut from. If you have a friend with a florist license and access to a florist warehouse, she might be able to buy you the stuff at cost and we could arrange it ourselves. One thought, that might be too risky, is to force the spring bulbs and have them growing over rocks for reception. It would be cheap and beautiful, and relatively easy. The risky part: They'd have to bloom within a certain week and I'm not sure you can do that...

*If you are wanting your purple and flower hue to pretty much match, you might want to choose them together and do a little digging to find out if that flower will be available at the end of April.

Whites:
Paperwhites
--super easy to grow from a bulb, arromatic spring smell...
Orchid

--stay fresh-looking for a long while, great bouquet flower
...
Tulip

--cheapest, easiest to get
...
Calla Lilly

--classic
...
Lilac

--not so hardy, but smell divine, and are so perfect for spring it hurts.
...
Hyacinth

--looks a bit like a bigger version of the lilac and lasts longer after cutting
(This is how the forced bulbs would look. So natural and *springy*. But you could choose whatever color you wanted)
...
Dogwood branch
--a personal favorite. One or two long branches look gorgeous in the middle of a table.
(ignore pink understuff. dogwood branches are long and pretty, that's the main thing.)

...
Waxflower
--tiny, awesome, great for accents, stays fresh forever

Purples:
Orchid
...
Tulip

...
Iris
--very tall
... Lilac
...
Calla Lilly
...
Hyacinth
...
Sweet Peas
(sweet peas also with the hyacinth bouquet below)
...
Grape Hyacinths

--one of my faves. makes great boutonniere or maid's bouquets (though a little closer to blue than purple)

...
Purple organic things to use besides flowers:
???
The only thing I could think about was plums, because an eggplant has a pretty hue but not so lovely a shape.
...

Greens:
Calla Lilly...
Hydrangea
--big blooms, fantastic vase flower...
Orchid...
Dogwood branch
...
Green organic things to use besides flowers:
Limes
...
Green apples
--these are so awesome, great color, stay "good" for months! These are seriously so cute by themselves on a table, or in bowls or vases. and a little more original than citrus, I think....
Wheat Grass.
O.k. This is THE ONE. You totally should have long things of wheat grass growing at your reception. Ask Jo, she's done this.

O my goodness Kelsey. I didnt realize until last night and this morning how much i NEED you and jo! last night jo did a sketch of what my dress should look like and it was perfect and now these flowers! okay so ideas-i am totally loving the green apple with plum. For food my mom was kind of thinking a outdoor food market fruit idea, so that would totally go along with it, plus their beautiful. I absolutely adored the callalilly bouquet. THe green and white climbing flower cake was divine-i might want to imcorporate some hue of purple some how. Also tulips seem like they would be so magnificent with a spring wedding. O yea all the calla lillys made me a huge fan of that flower. Also i can't really figure out a place i want to call about tents? what do you guys think will happen if it rains with a tent? I NEED YOU GUYS!!!

So, which color calla do you like (purple, green, or white), and for what--your bouquet, the reception in general... Also, are you guys doing it at your parents' house? What about the "market style" idea, will that be food, decoration, everything? If so, the wheat grass, apples, plums will be so cute. Calla's are a more formal flower, so if you wanted them at the reception--is it a reception or an open house type?--then putting a little wilder looking flower with them, like sweet peas or grape hyacinths, would feel a more marketish. If you are going for the market thing!--you could hang upside down bunches of herbs and flowers. Hmmm maybe not. Depends where you're doing it.

I really liked the purple calla lillies for my bouquet. And i think we are trying to have my reception outside in a white tent. I think we will stick with the outdoor market so the wheat grass, plums apples i think would be perfect!! too perfect. I really do want kinda wild, i might even do flowers in my hair like jourdan did. So even hanging flowers and plants would be beautiful in the tent. What do you think kels?

My favorites are the wheat grass and limes like Katie. They are so fresh and not gaudy at all which is wonderful to avoid! Good work kels!
